So I actually wrote this back in early December and just recently found it again. I looked through my posts, but it appears it was never posted. It's a little on the emo side given the subject of loss but, then again, reading through my posts from December, that seemed to be the topic of the month, so there you go.

Title: Loss
Genre: Gen
Rating: PG
Length: 500 words (five drabbles)
Spoilers: Through the beginning of Series 4
Synopsis: Five times Merlin experienced loss.
Author’s Notes: A bit melancholy/angsty.
Disclaimer: I do not own this interpretation of the myths and am making no profit from this.

Late as usual. Long as usual. This ended up too long for a comment fic - sorry!

Title: Gift-Bringer
Fandom: Old Kingdom (Garth Nix novels)
Genre: Gen
Rating: PG
Length: ~ 700 words
Spoilers: Through Abhorsen.
Synopsis: Lirael is given a gift.
Author’s Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] morrigans_eve for [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking. Something Lirael-centric, though I did not pair her with anyone.

Title: Five Times Merlin Crossed
Genre: Gen, Crossover
Fandoms: Merlin, Old Kingdom, Sherlock Holmes, Leverage, Alphas, Doctor Who
Rating: PG-13 for violence and implied character death
Length: ~3060 words
Spoilers: End of Abhorsen series, general for all other series, 11th Doctor, Arthurian mythology
Synopsis: Five times Merlin has crossed the boundary to death.
Author’s Notes: I love the immortality aspect of the Arthurian myths and could not resist playing with it again. This is also a shameless excuse to cross some of my favourite fandoms (even though I did not manage to get Fringe or Highlander in here this time around).
Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters and am making no profit from this.

Yeah, I can already tell you I am not going to top the past few years’ of 70-something. The combo of the move, the shoulder, the sick, and the stress from not knowing if I was still going to be employed (hint: I am) took its toll.

So, without further ado...

Merlin )

Sherlock (BBC) )

Fringe )

Stargate: Atlantis )

Highlander )

In Plain Sight )

Yuletide – not actually listed )

It looks like 41 this year (counting the crossovers only once). Still have the [livejournal.com profile] merlinreversebang one to finish and post, and have a couple other ones pending, but there is no way they will be done in the next six hours, so that’s it for 2011!

I have been gifted with a wonderful Alphas story! Binary Data is a view of Gary's world and how he sees not just everything around him, but has a fair idea of how everyone else sees it as well.

Go read. 'Tis awesome.

Have also been gifted with the most wonderful thing since the original Atari that we gave my dad when I was about ten: an iPad add-on with like 100 of the old games. Oh yeah, time be a wastin' soon. *g*

Now [personal profile] wolfie74 and I are off to complete our Christmas Day routine: eat Chinese food and watch Sherlock of the Holmes.

Merry Christmas to those that celebrate, Happy Sunday to those that do not. I hope your day(s) are filled with joy and all sorts of fun. :)

Now 3 am and the fire burns merrily on. Not really writing as I fear the grammar, spelling, and plot I would inflict upon others, so have another quote:

Me: Hey, it looks like the fire's down to almost smoldering. Do we need to turn it back on? Push a button to make the Yule Log go again? [reference to a gas fireplace at one place where we stayed a few years back]

[personal profile] wolfie74: You would never survive in the wilderness on your own, would you?

Me: Sure I would. I'd have my cell phone with GPS and be all, "Yeah, I'm here, come find me."

This, of course, led to reminiscing about the Yule everyone was sick and we took turns sleeping. She was passed out and the fire burned low. Youngest turned to me and asked, "So, um, if we keep it going with sticks and paper until Mom wakes up, it so totally counts, right?"

And he is far more outdoorsy than Eldest. Scary, huh?

Have updated a few more fics to the AO3. Leaving off the drabbles for now, but posted a drabble "series" as a single fic (was posted this way originally anyway). May do more later, or may wait so I don't post a crap ton to the archive at once.

Kidlings are in bed as they have school tomorrow. Sucks to be them. Both claimed they weren't tired and would be fine staying up. Both are currently passed out. Go fig.

And, because I forgot to include this earlier, a quote from work today:

Coworker: That's right, isn't tonight like the night you go dance around the moon or something?

Me: Er, this is Minnesota. It's too cold for that. They made inside for a reason.

Coworker #2: *cackles*

It's that time of the year again, the night when I post random rumblings, growing more and more incoherent as the night wears on. Or, in other words, it's Yule!

Plans for the night include catching up at least a little on the backlog of comments, uploading fic to AO3, and, should those sites not want to work as planned (like now), maybe actually get some writing in and finish the holiday cards that have been languishing off to the side.

But for now, food. Of which Eldest has already finished his even though mine is not even done heating. Such is life.

Blatantly stolen from [livejournal.com profile] cleothemuse:

Tell me about a story I haven't written, and I'll give you a sentence (or more) from that story.

Wow, it's almost like I have the concentration of a gnat or am trying to stall or something. Odd that.

Title: Paint the Skies Blue
Genre: AU (Modern), Angst, Arthur/Merlin Slash
Rating: PG-13
Length: ~3,900 words
Warnings: Serious illness/injury, reference to possible drug use
Synopsis: Merlin is painter with a secret. Arthur would prefer if the secret did not kill him.
Author’s Notes: Was in the mood to write some angst. The lovely [livejournal.com profile] threnodyjones was in the mood to ask if I wanted some purple with my prose. We were both in the mood to snark about priorities.

So I have been attempting to draw on the iPad lately, with mixed results. The stuff I posted here was made using the .harmonious app, and I have since tried the one called Paint Gallery. It was okay, but has this little glitch in which it randomly closes everything without saving and pisses me off to no end (twice now when I was almost done - really annoying).

Anyone have any other ideas? I have only used the free apps to date, but would not be adverse to shelling out a couple of bucks if anyone has a particularly glowing review.

Pretty much what it says on the label. Would anyone be interested in a winter/holiday/whatever you celebrate card exchange thing?

Basically, if you are interested, you leave a comment with where you would like the card sent (comments are screened). If you feel like it, you post in your journal and people leave you their address of choice there as well.

Partially stolen from the wonderful [personal profile] emeraldteal and partially stolen from wandering around the mall yesterday and seeing all sorts of cards and postcards.
