Merlin looked down at the small package in his hand, wrapped in simple linen and tied with coarse string. It wasn’t much, and he knew it, but it was all he had to offer. Suddenly embarrassed, he started to slip it into his pocket instead.
“Not so fast,” Arthur’s voice startled him. Of course he had noticed the simplicity mixed against the opulent.
He took the package with far more care than it appeared to deserve and held it with a sort of delicate reverence.
“I...” Merlin started.
“It’s from you, that makes it more than enough,” Arthur assured him.
