That's really a good take of it. The first two focused more on individual battles, which worked with the first person POV. The third encompassed more of the greater war, which is hard to get a feel for if you are only looking at one person's role. It's either going to make that person look like a Mary Sue with all the unbelievable situations they just happen to find themselves in, or strain credibility that one person (especially one so young) would be privy to so much knowledge about multiple battles and tactics.
