The Gay Threat

So I'm pretty much guaranteeing my trip to hell with this one, but my initial response to the Pope's little speech against gays? Fuck you.

Gays are not as much threat to the world as the deforestation of the Rain Forests. Jesus Christ. Did he miss all those recent articles stressing that the few lines in the Bible that could be interpreted as anti-gay are being highlighted over all the explicit text stating so are things like wearing unnatural cloths like polyester? I don't see him up in arms against the seventies or Wal-Mart.

Like we needed another reason for people to hate us and try to kill us all.

And my family wonders why I have refused to take Communion since the election of Pope Benedict Arnold... JP2 was s-l-o-w-l-y working toward modernizing the RCC (which may not seem like a whole lot, but was considerable for a religion with a very exclusive and conservative leadership), but Benedict? Back to the Dark Ages, baby!

Sadly, I predict the next pope will be from South America or Africa, in which case the leadership will become even more fundamental than ever.

I liked John Paul II. And most of Rome still does if you go by how much of his stuff is sold versus the current Pope.

I went to a mass at the Vatican with the current Pope. He did not spot me out and have me killed, nor did I burn from anything other than the sun that was causing others to pass out. Really, if the all powerful God hated us so much, wouldn't he have either done something to stop us or made sure we never existed in the first place?

Of course, I also have a recording of the local Episcopalian Anglican priest insisting the recent schism in the Episcopalian church was a result of the "gay agenda" to take over the church.

Srsly? You plan meetings, take minutes, write agendas, and plot the overthrow of religious institutions? Where do I sign up?

I think it is very important we get rid of all the homosexuals as soon as possible. After all, fathers need to sleep with their daughters, and it might interfere.

I'd say I love you, but then you would be gay by association.

It's the Homosexual Conspiracy in action.

But if the church and its rules made you say what you said, thus making me say what I said, does that technically mean the church is the one behind the Homosexual Conspiracy all along?

Of course not. That was merely objective observation.

I read an essay online basically saying that all these religious people can feel free to hate gays all they want...just as soon as they execute an adulterer in line with biblical law. Also, I hardly think the Pope Hitler Youth has any moral authority on sexuality, what with the giant conspiracy to hide and perpetuate the rampant child molestation the Catholic Church is known for.

Heh. I said something similar to E last night: "This is what you get when you put a member of the Hitler Youth in charge of your religion."

The thing is, I don't hate all Catholics, or all Christians, or anything like that. I do strongly dislike people who latch on to one tiny thing and refuse to admit any other viewpoint or any other fact, even when presented with evidence from the same source they are "quoting".
