My son has long hair. He is 11 and it more than occasionally tangles. He asked me to brush it for him tonight because he was having some issues. This was our conversation:
Me: Honey, in the winter our hair gets into tangles more. There's a whole huge scientific explanation involving the cold and ions and static, but basically, it gets in knots.
Him: How do you take care of it?
Me: There's a reason we put a brush in your bag for school.
Him: Okay, I'll try to remember to put it in my locker for after swimming.
Me: You don't brush your hair after swimming?!?
Him: Er, am I supposed to?
I do believe we have discovered the source of the knots...

Around here boys aren't allowed to wear their hair past the collars of their shirts. I liked the rule since my husband hates getting my son's hair cut. J's hair gets very curly/wavy when it's longer and my hubby thinks it looks so cute. Wants J to stay a baby forever. J's 6 years old and hates it when his hair gets long now. So I WIN!
