Thin Ice

Not to sound overly mean and cruel, but would you ever walk out onto a lake assuming the ice would support you when the temps haven't even dropped below zero yet this season? Even if you were not from around here, wouldn't you think to either check with the internet or someone who has lived here longer than you? Throw a rock? A stick? Something?

We have our fair share of locals who fall through, don't get me wrong, but usually those are after a hard freeze, serveral inches of ice have already formed, or in the Spring when things are starting to thaw.

My own beta readers can tell you I used to be totally guilty of comma abuse, and definitely still have my moments...
