Pod-like Thing
So, I ended up recording the podfic earlier this week and it did not totally suck. Needed to play around with multiple programs that night (for FIVE HOURS) before we got something to work, but I think I like the end result.
So, a few things to come out of this experience:
1) If you download the freeware version of RecordForAll, please note that, when they warn about a watermark, they mean it. Roughly every 30 seconds or so an incredibly loud voice overlaps your recording to remind you that this is not the full version.
2) If you then decide fuck it and actually pay the money for the real version, they do not actually send you the key and such for a full business day's worth of time. This is not helpful when you are up against a deadline.

wolfie74 downloaded Audacity to her laptop and I was able to use that. Please note that you need the codec, appropriately named LAME to be able to convert the .wav to a .mp3 format. The program itself is very easy to use though, which is a definite bonus.
4) The full version of RecordForAll is actually quite nice, once you (eventually) get it. It also converts .wav to .mp3 extremely quickly and clearly and reduces the file size from the huge 50 MB to a much more reasonable 4.6 MB.
5)wolfie74 has now also been hit with the podcasting bug and is playing around with Garage Band (which we had on our server but did not have a working mic connection for until today) to make a cooking type podcast.

camelot_fleet, ironically enough, had a podcast workshop today that will likely extend into tomorrow. They answer some questions and give some tips and are, as always, awesome and supportive.
7) I feel like there should be an odd number. Isn't an odd number supposed to be more artistically and aesthetically appealing or some such thing?
All in all, I might be willing to try this again, and likely will, as long as no one screams at the Midwesterner with an occasional stutter for daring to try such a thing.
