Traveling...

We leave for our trip on Thursday, so I won't be around LJ for about a week and a half or so after that. In terms of getting ready for it...

Done:
- Laundry so I have clean clothes to pack
- Updated iPod for plane
- Picked up SD cards for DANA for plane
- Picked up new sketchbook for trip
- Crack!fic for April Fool's Day

Need to Do:
- Verbally bitchsmack NWA (*)
- Call credit card companies to warn them
- Pack suitcase
- Pack kids' stuff for plane
- Pick up random piddly things for trip/plane
- Finish fic due April 10th (done except conclusion)
- Charge DANA to bring with
- Apologize to tejas for not finishing her fic yet

Do on Plane? [It's 9 hours, I should have time...]
- Finish tejas's fic
- Work on final OT4 AU fic
- Finish Outcast-based fic

(*) - The reason for this? Some rocket scientist decided to break up a family of four, having two sit in the middle of the plane with empty seats on either side of them, one sit about 5 rows back, and another sit 4 rows back and kitty-corner (this being the 9 year old asthmatic with peanut allergies). Surprisingly, I would like to sit a bit closer to my children and partner - it's a thing. Did I mention both kids have nut allergies (Eldest is allergic to cashews) and NWA won't guarantee a nut-free plane?

Yeah, so a couple things left to do. Good thing I've got... er... a day and half to do them in...

Not really stressed about the fic, or the trip. Just want to get it done (especially since I keep promising I will). Honestly, the biggest thing I'm stressing about is the plane with the boys. We've never had them with on international trips before, mixed with NWA sucking so much already...

There's always the emergency exits. Let me tell you about the time their mother crawled out onto the roof of her house at less than 2 years old... :)

On the one hand, they are 9 and 10 and in advanced classes. On the other, they still get stuck by the front door if it's locked, prompting us to calmly tell them they are going to die horribly in a fire someday if they can't figure out how to work a key. [Said with love, while showing them again.]

I know the feeling. It's all I can do to get my 14 year old to do her own laundry. My telling her that she'd have to pick me up off the floor after I passed out if I tried to do it last night got her attention.

She knows how. She's done it before. But faced with it, she always has to ask me "is this a small load?" "Should I use light or heavy?" "What temperature should I use?"

I'm afraid to have them do laundry, but I might still be traumatized by the gumball incident from a few years ago. E tried to wash their jackets last night, reminding them about 10 times to check the pockets. "Nope, they're clean!" She asked what was shifting in one of them. The response, "Oh, that's just my crayons." [head meet desk]
