If the information is located in a spreadsheet on a shared drive that everyone in your group has access to, does the manager in charge of the group need to email to request how many entries there are?
She's not normally so... dense. I just wanted to stop and ask her, "Did you think about this? I mean, really, think about this?"
At one point today, I asked her [complete with parenthesis], "Did you want the numbers separately [A had 2 last month and 3 this month] or together [A had 5 total]?" Her answer? "Yes."
