Dear Coworkers

For the love of all things sacred and holy, turn down your damn music!

I understand people liking a certain song or a certain group and listening to it more than a bit louder in the car or at home. We are a cube farm at a financial institution. This is not the place to be rocking out to whatever genre of music you want to listen to.

For fuck's sake, have some respect and turn it down.

Elma does that all the time. I tend to turn mine up when she gets her crunk on or whatever it is the kids listen to these days. Granted, lately, I've been on a huge Enya kick, so it's not very offensive even at high volumes.

Country. Better than 7.5 hours of Bob Dylan (unless it goes on for that long today), but not the biggest fan. I prefer a choice in my music. If I can't hear mine over yours a cube away, your may be too loud.

But what if it's "Johnny Cash"?

I like Johnny Cash. One of my managers used to play it all the time (it's our own fault for getting him a CD one year for the holidays). Even he did not blare it for 7.5 hours in the workplace.

Our particular area talks with attorneys and courts over the phone on a regular basis - it can be had to sound professional when all you can hear is the twang of a guitar (though not as hard as when people listen to "Baby Got Back" at top volume).

:) I don't know - that mind depend on the clients. It wouldn't happen to be criminal law would it?

Answering system: *Baby Got Back in the background* "YO, baby we got the lawya's for U. Dial 666 for help."

Sounds like some of the NY attorney offices I've dealt with. *g*

We're part of the banking industry though, people who are supposed to be all conservative so you know you can trust your money with us. Hearing loud music, or even people, in the background doesn't exactly convey the message of maturity we're supposed to put forth. Then again, either does playing basketball in the aisles, or throwing paperclips, cany, or other office supplies at your coworkers, but let' limit this to just things overheard on the phones for now. :)
