Yeah! School!

The first day of the school year is tomorrow. Anyone who ever said boys don't have the same problems are girls finding "the right" outfit for the first day never had a son about to start his first day of Middle School.

Oh, the drama.

We may, possibly, have uttered phrases along the lines of, "No, honey, you can't wear that. You will sweat to death and your deodorant can't handle it" and "Yes, that does look awesome, but not for an 80 degree day" and "My god, you are acting like a teenage girl! Get off the floor and go to bed."

On the other hand: School! Glorious, tiring, sleep inducing school!

This is when you find as a parent that you like school uniform even if you hated the damn thing as a child. :-)

I was actually talking about that with my mother this morning, when I apologized for ever being a pre-teen (the teenager apology will wait another couple years). Both of us missed the days where the only choice was between a blue shirt or a white shirt to be worn under the jumper, and then they took away the blue, leaving us with the "standard" or "Peter Pan" collars instead. Ah, fun times. :)
