SGA - Whispers - Spoilers
Saw Whispers. Spoilers follow.
Okay, first reaction:
Those bastards. Those little bitchy writers and TPTB. They build up Vega as being the important one in all the spoilers, she has about three lines, and then they kill her and leave her behind. WTF?
I freely admit this (over)reaction is based on the fact I kinda rather like the actress and she is pretty much the spitting image of my main character in my original series I'm writing. Yes, I'm that petty that I will bitch out the writers over this.
Over all, okay ep. Ignoring the "girl" comments and Sheppard not knowing one of his own teams is made up of all females and the subtle little high-five like thing he gives Beckett once he realizes this.
Zombies. Mist. Pitchfork falling asthe undead genetic experiments gone wrong attack. Moronic villager begging to be killed. Sheppard saving the day, but it ends up working by pure chance because, come on, it's Sheppard.
I admit it: I liked Dusty. Yes, she was over the top, but she was funny as hell. "Oh, sorry. Just read something funny. And obvious."
Speaking of something funny, and obvious, to me at least, I love that the three survivors of Teldy's team are all lesbian icons: Chistina Cox of "Better than Chocolate" (among others) plays Major Teldy, Janina Gavankar of "The L Word" plays Sgt. Mehra, and Nicole de Boer of "Sure I'll play a bisexual in an alternate universe of DS9" plays Dr. Porter. Sorry, Ms. Savasta, you're just not gay enough to survive.
There is a fairly good chance that I will be writing either an AU where Vega lives, or a fic in which thezombies genetic experiments gone wrong temporarily paralyze you into a near death state and they are able to save her. Not that I've thought about this or anything...
Edit: And how could I forget the somewhat amusing Star Trek reference by Porter? Maybe it was because I was trying to block out the completely juvenile "Go Beavers!" comment she made in the same scene?
