Made myself a silly goal just under one year ago. I decided that, not only was I going to run a 5K after never running before and barely starting an exercise regime, but that I wanted to do 5 of them. Before my birthday next year. Also, just running 5K on the treadmill didn't count.

Completed my 5th 5K yesterday! Didn't quite get the time I wanted with it, but finished it and made my goal!

Whoo to the hoo?

Chocoholic Frolic
Everybody's Irish (benefiting Children's Hospital)
Hot Chocolate (benefiting the Ronald McDonald House)
Heart of the City (benefiting Kids Serving Kids)
Run HOME for Jacob (benefiting the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center)

Might do more. Might give my ankle a bit of a rest first though.

Finished my third 5K on Saturday. Been running and working out and, yes, writing when I can and am horribly behind on replies again. I swear I am not ignoring people!

Also? My coworkers were kind enough to gift me with the cold that has been going around. I don't get sick. I get allergies and sinus infections from those, but not colds. I hate this. I may, possibly, have taken far too much cold meds and really need to stay away from things that will create permanent records right about now. I am breathing though. Lightheaded and goofy and giggly, but breathing.

I promise I will try to respond to things soon!

Thank you, as always, for your patience!

Had the following exchange at the gym when I finished using one of the machines:

Random Father: Excuse me, are you done with that one?
Me: Yep, it's all yours.
Random Father's Son: Aw, man, you couldn't say no, could you?
Me: Sorry, dude.
Father: Tell you what, you only have to do the weight she was doing.
Son: [wary] What weight was it?
Father: 75 lbs
Son: No.
Father: Are you saying that a woman, a girl can do more than you?
Son: Yes. Yes, I am.

I may have laughed out loud.

So I had a bad idea. So I poked at said bad idea. So it poked back.

I just signed up for a 5k race today, mainly to say I could. The thing is, I'm not a runner and never have been. I've been working out since February on a regular basis, but will readily avoid cardio if given the option. Why I chose a run as a goal, I have no idea.

I did manage to run 2.55 miles tonight though? No, I will not be setting any speed records, but I made my goal for the night and am calling it a win. That leaves me with making it an additional .55 miles at a shot by the time the race comes around in November. [The timeline is short so that I don't chicken out.]

The race in question? Is called the Chocoholic Frolic and is pretty much right on astrological Samhain, which is another reason I chose it: meet a goal, try something new, new beginnings for the new year, yadda.

Yep. Let's see how horrible this all turns out? :p

Crawling out of the abyss of mandatory overtime to offer a half-hearted wave.

My days have been spent at work, poking at the gym, and/or poking at a fic I really want to finish by the end of the week. Unfortunately, the gym poked back, or maybe the fact I'm not twenty anymore did, and I appear to have caused some injury to myself, specifically my knees. It was probably when Eldest and I tried to outdo each other, to be honest. I have an appointment tomorrow wherein I hope my doc doesn't just do what she usually does and tell me to go to "a specialist in the field, just in case."

Attempting and failing to stay off of Tumblr for a bit as apparently very few people feel the need to tag their Age of Ultron spoilers. I usually don't mind minor things, but there is something to be said about the element of surprise in a movie, you know?

In other news, I resisted the urge to put ghost pepper salt in the kids' pasta tonight, so that totally deserves a reward of the chocolate type, right?
