E took me to dinner and a play tonight, so it was off to the Guthrie for dinner at "Level 5" and to go watch "By the Bog of Cats". The play is an adaptation of the Greek tragedy "Medea" as told via Irish storytelling. It was well-done and sent a rather powerful message and got you thinking - all things good performances should do.

One note to the lady a few rows back: "Medea" is not a happy-go-lucky tale - were you really that surprised at the ending, or did you never read the original? She gasped so loud the child lost character for a moment.

On a sort of cool note, there was a high school group from Texas up to watch it as well as they will be performing it in the hear future. It was cool to see their reactions and you could already tell who would be playing which character.

Again, good play and I highly recommend it. Just, er, don't go intending to enjoy a light romp, okay?
