“It’s not that bad,” Merlin insists, watching the blood pool in his hands. “Gaius can fix it, maybe even I can.”

“Merlin,” Arthur tries, but it comes out a strangled breath.

Merlin ignores him and continues, “I’m not that bad you know, physician’s assistant and all that. Not as good as him, but I can try.”

“Merlin!” Arthur shouts, harsher now. “Stop. Just... stop.”

Merlin reluctantly meets his gaze and offers an apologetic, “I can’t; you should know this by now.”

Arthur sighs and grips the makeshift bandage tighter. “He’ll be here soon. Just try to hold on until then.”

Oh yes, I love the ambiguity of it. Both of them so desperate... it's like, it doesn't matter who's injured, the other is just as bad... :(
