Arthur noticed it first. The siege was done and cleanup was underway and relief was flowing free through his veins. It was the perfect time to tease Merlin and get things back to normal.
At the doorway to his room, he saw the angry red line, fresh and far too new as Merlin changed, oblivious. He recognized the mark that matched the one on Morgana’s leg and the words “poison” and “death” drifted through his mind. Suddenly, the disappearance was worrisome for a different reason.
He left without a word and decided perhaps a day off was earned after all.
