AO3 Meme

I'd say I'm in a contemplative mood this morning or something, but I'm not quite awake enough for that. Long week with tons of stuff going on which, thankfully, included some escapist writing as well. So, meme time instead!

My Top Ten Fics at Archive of Our Own Based on Hit Counts (and my thoughts about them)

1) Twenty-Three Minutes Sherlock (BBC) - 823 hits
John was missing, and is now found. Sherlock will take care of the situation, by whatever means he deems necessary. Hint of John/Sherlock, mostly Gen.

2) Ingenious Sherlock (BBC) - 725 hits
John received more than he thought from Moriarty. Crack. John/Sherlock, bit of one-sided Moriarty/John

3) Acceptance Sherlock (BBC) - 711 hits
A slip of the tongue can lead to so much more. Pre-slash John/Sherlock

4) Infatuation Sherlock (BBC) - 649 hits
John has a secret admirer. Obsessive one-sided Moriarty/John, hint of John/Sherlock

5) Excel Sherlock (BBC) - 603 hits
Sherlock will excel in anything he does. Cracky John/Sherlock (toppy bottom Sherlock, really)

6) Taken Sherlock (BBC) - 588 hits
Prompt was asexual Sherlock bombarded by women at a club while straight John is busy being chatted up by a guy. Gen (well, OC likes/yadda)

7) Days Sherlock (BBC) - 421 hits
Most days they have a set routine. John/Sherlock

8) After Sherlock (BBC) - 384 hits
John has had enough sleepless nights, thank you very much. Gen.

9) The Case of the Purloined Physician Sherlock (BBC) - 377 hits
John is out of sight and quite possibly about to go out of mind. Gen with a hint of John/Sherlock

10) Fragile Leverage - 345 hits
It sucked, but it could have been much worse. Eliot/Hardison/Parker

Thinky Thoughts

a) Er, yeah, so I really need to get more than just primarily Sherlock fic posted there. The other fandoms may have had a showing if I had more than like two things each posted. Maybe. Then again, maybe the fics suck and they wouldn't, so there's that.

b) People seem to like the fics that are around 6K or less the most. Maybe it's because they are quicker reads and you know you should be able to finish them in X amount of time?

c) So apparently I like to add a hint of a pairing to things. I know I like to try to slip things in with canon if possible, at least in my own mind. Like the story is something that can happen in between episodes or scenes without drastically changing what is seen on the screen. If a pairing is not specifically canon but I believe it exists, it tends to come out this way. Even the more explicit of stories I have written are kind of this way of sliding in and out of the canon (that sounds dirty) - I like everything to make sense in my head in a somewhat logical manner, no matter how cracky that logic is. No, there is no excuse for Ingenious though. *g*

d) Realms was #11 on the list, which kind of disproves points b) and c) above as it is far longer than 6K and definitely does not slip in and out of canon too much what with the whole alternate realities and such, so maybe I'm just making stuff up at this point or maybe what people want to read has no rhyme or reason other than the mood they were in at the time. *shrug*
