Title: Immortality

Synopsis: Arthur will wait.
Author’s Notes: Proof that I really am writing? Had this idea of Merlin as the immortal of the myths, and went from there.
Disclaimer: I do not own this interpretation of the myths and am making no profit from this.
“No,” Arthur said, his voice no more than a whisper.
“Sire...” Leon tried, but Arthur ignored him, ignored the victory celebrations of a battle hard won, ignored everything save for the man he held in his arms, a man who never should have been there in the first place.
Arthur pressed his ear to Merlin’s chest and pretended he could hear the heartbeat that so rapidly faded, laid there long past the time the blood he wore grew cold, laid there still when that heart slowly began to beat again.
“There you are,” he sighed, his world righting once more.
