Help?

My partner (aka Wolfie) recently bought us both Dana AlphaSmarts (she got an excellent deal - both for less than the price of one) in hopes we would stop being distracted by the internet and actually focus on writing more. It was working great for her, she nearly finished a series that's been on hold for a while. There was, of course, a problem.

She linked the AlphaSmart back to the computer and pulled down her docs. After this, the AlphaSmart had an issue with *something* and she reset it. Somehow, the folder she pulled down is now completely missing and the docs are missing from the reset AlphaSmart. We've tried the normal recovery methods, and can't get anything to work. The few docs we can find say the shortcut to them is invalid and will not let us open them.

Does anyone have any ideas? She was so happy to be writing again.

Thank you all in advance!

I have a Dana but can't figure out any useful advice for you. I recommend that you ask the question in the flickr alphasmart group. If there is an answer you will find it there. Best of luck.

She did a bit more research on it and discovered that it was the desktop she was connecting to causing most of the problem. There was something involving RAM and being overwritten. She found a recovery program and managed to get some, but not all of it back, and a large deal was corrupted. She has since partitioned the hard drive to form a more "protected" space for the uploads in hopes they won't be overwritten.

Thanks for the suggestion though! (I didn't know that existed.)
