Due South
So I finally got around to starting to watch the Due South DVDs I got last month. Amazon.com had the entire series for under $25.00 and I couldn’t pass it up.
So far, I only watched the pilot and man, I had forgotten a lot of it. I think the last time I saw it was at least ten years ago. The writing is awesome (yes, I forgot it was Paul Haggis and therefore it was a forgone conclusion), the acting is way more than decent, and the pace actually, you know, moves. You've got to love a pilot to a series that assumes you are moderately intelligent and doesn't turn into Exposition City. The only issues I had with it were the incredibly painful clothing options (yes, era, blah, blah... but the shoulder pads and baggy jackets are a reminder that some things should be dead and buried), and the obvious use of stunt people who looked nothing like the leads.
I want to watch the next one already and, considering we went through season one of Bones and haven’t bought season two yet, it looks like we might have time. I’m debating venturing into Fic Land, but don’t know if I want to get caught up in another fandom, especially one with the still on-going Ray Wars. Still, maybe if I ease in with crossovers with SG-1 or SGA? *is pathetic*

Eh... DS and SG... I haven't really vibed on x-overs there. (I think you should write another SGA/Eu cause that was like, ♥! *looks hopeful*)

'Sides, I'm busy writing the SGA/Thoughtcrimes crossover right now and don't know if I'll get to another Eureka one any time soon. Of course you could write a crossover, if you were so inclined
and post it for the crossover fest.no subject
Would you please let me know if you've noticed anything hinky?

I've only watched the pilot so far (possibly another ep tonight) and had no issues. Then again, my tv isn't hi-def and is about 5 years old, so maybe I didn't notice the difference?
They did cram a lot of eps on each disc - the entire series fits in a box about the size of 1.5 VHS tapes. The main menu pix are a bit less clear, but the episode itself was fine. I'll let you know if I notice anything else.

Also, I know I was young at the time, but how did I miss the gayness? The slash, it jumps off the screen...

My best friend and I comment on that all the time. It was probably the last show we watched before we discovered slash. Or it discovered us might be a better way to put it. ;)
We always were drawn to "buddy shows" and were extremely interested when Apollo and Starbuck on the original Galactica were doing some of what we'd call hurt/comfort today, not to mention playing Triad. Yum.
Oddly though, neither of us read Due South slash. We can see the moments onscreen now, but I guess because we didn't see it then, it just doesn't call to us to read it.
