Due South

So I finally got around to starting to watch the Due South DVDs I got last month. Amazon.com had the entire series for under $25.00 and I couldn’t pass it up.

So far, I only watched the pilot and man, I had forgotten a lot of it. I think the last time I saw it was at least ten years ago. The writing is awesome (yes, I forgot it was Paul Haggis and therefore it was a forgone conclusion), the acting is way more than decent, and the pace actually, you know, moves. You've got to love a pilot to a series that assumes you are moderately intelligent and doesn't turn into Exposition City. The only issues I had with it were the incredibly painful clothing options (yes, era, blah, blah... but the shoulder pads and baggy jackets are a reminder that some things should be dead and buried), and the obvious use of stunt people who looked nothing like the leads.

I want to watch the next one already and, considering we went through season one of Bones and haven’t bought season two yet, it looks like we might have time. I’m debating venturing into Fic Land, but don’t know if I want to get caught up in another fandom, especially one with the still on-going Ray Wars. Still, maybe if I ease in with crossovers with SG-1 or SGA? *is pathetic*

Jack O'Neill grew up in Chicago and had friend by the name of Ray Vecchio. Goa'uld on the loose or random Ancient tech or some such thing, run into each other. Ray V goes off about how awesome his Mountie is and Jack responds that McKay's Canadian too, but you don't see him lining up to kiss his ass. Insert joke about Daniel here. Also, Benny with the Ancient gene would rock like a rocking thing.

'Sides, I'm busy writing the SGA/Thoughtcrimes crossover right now and don't know if I'll get to another Eureka one any time soon. Of course you could write a crossover, if you were so inclined and post it for the crossover fest.
