Fic Question

If Jack got a hold of Daniel's cell phone and reset the ringtone, what would he set it to? [Imagine he had Sam's help if necessary.]

So far, I can only come up with "Oops, I Did It Again" by Britney Spears, or possibly something from the Backstreet Boys, just to annoy him.

Ideas?

I'd be shocked if Jack knew who either of them were. ;-)

Wagner. :-) Something from the Ring Cycle.

[identity profile] cat-77.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
True, but I could see him asking around to find the most annoying thing he could. Plus, "Oops, I Did It Again" for the Bounce-Back Boy? *g*

I have no idea what the song is. :-)

The most annoying song in the world is obvious... The Song That Must Not Be Named. :-);-)

Nah, he knows about them thanks to Cassie. :)

And Teal'c's secret obsession...

Plot bunny: Cassie has only recently arrived. Janet & Sam have told her about various Earth customs such as The Sleepover and Pajama Parties. Cassie wants to try one, but isn't used to the kids and the culture yet so....

Cassie's first Pajama Party is with Janet, Sam, Jack, Daniel and Teal'c. Janet mentions some of the usual activities such as painting their nails and doing each other's hair and make up.

That could be fun to write.

He's *heard* them, maybe, but probably wouldn't admit remembering them, even to himself.

I know the feeling. While I love a lot of my kid's music, there are some things I simply refuse to admit I've ever even heard of. :-)

I see Jack as the kind of fellow who encourages a child's enthusiasms, whether it's something he's into or not and a good way to do that is turn it into something he and Cassie share. I can see him talking to Cassie about the musical groups she's excited about and listening to her, even remembering what she said for the next time she shares with him.

Jack might even use her excitement as a springboard to introduce her to other types of music as well, gently steering her toward classical & opera, or swing & doo wop.

Daniel of course, would be right there explaining the historical context of each musical type. :)

And Sam slipping in some Metallica and Iron Maiden to keep things interesting... *g*

Teal'c - Japanese Taiko drums, because they remind him of the music of Chulak.

What would Janet and Daniel gravitate to , do you think?

[identity profile] cat-77.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Janet's a secret ABBA fan. Daniel, mixed in with all of his cultural sampling CD's and Tibetan throat singing and the like, secretly has a few '80's hair bands that he listens to all the time.

[identity profile] chattycatsmeow.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Daniel - Guns & Roses, Bon Jovi and toss in some Springsteen and he's a happy man.

Janet - small town Louisiana girl growing up with Zydeco who loved the big town she did her residency in and when she wasn't studying, she was on the disco dance floor. Total embodiment of The Dancing Queen. :D

I don't see Jack encouraging her to listen to crap. He might accept it, but I doubt he'd encourage it.

(Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult...it's Danny's theme song as far as I can tell.

Either Stairway to Heaven by the Stones

OR

"King Tut" by Steve Martin. :)

[identity profile] cat-77.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
King Tut may possibly be a win.

[Stairway to Heaven is not by the Stones though, hun. *g*]

[identity profile] chattycatsmeow.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
D'oh! I totally know that Stairway is by Led Zep. My fingers, however, have taken to typing completely random and / or slightly related words *instead* of what my brain is thinking. :D

I Need a Hero.

is he setting it with music, or will he program in lyric lines?

"this is ground control to major tom"
"lord I miss Daniel"
"you gotta fight the power, fight the powers that be"
"i can't get no satisfaction"
"we're the princes of the universe"

Or maybe Hava Nagila. Just because.

[identity profile] cat-77.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh - found a dance remix of Hava Nagila once. To say it was... different... would be an understatement.

Rick Astley "Never Gonna Give You Up" which is exactly what my husband did to me. ...The bastard.

[identity profile] cat-77.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm trying not to laugh, but it *is* kinda funny...

My partner's is set for the Jill Sobule version of "I Kissed a Girl" - always funny when it goes off, though not quite as bad when we set it up to be a wolf whistle (that one always got everyone's attention).

The true beauty is that he set the phone to rickroll me and then set the phone so that when he called it would rickroll me.

So, I switched the main ring tone, didn't check that he'd switched his ringer, and then he called again and I thought I was going crazy.

When my husband isn't acting like McKay, he acts like Jack.
