Apparently I have been nominated!

A Difference of Days - Team with a heavy bit of Teyla, written for the [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa exchange.

Five Times Rodney McKay Babysat the Athosians - Rodney-centric with a heavy bit of snark.

Gate Crashing 101 - SGC training with a focus on SG-1 and Daniel's their mishaps.

Thank you to anyone and everyone who liked the stories enough to think of them!

Check out all the stories nominated and (eventually) vote for your favorite at GateFic.com.

I just wanted to say thank you to the lovely people who nominated my SG-1 stories for a GateFic Award! You are very sweet and I thank you very much for your kindness.

My site is down, likely permanently, but the three fics are all hosted over at The Alpha Gate:

Bodhisattva - Vala believes she has figured Daniel out.

Prophetiae - "It wasn't just Merlin, was it?" - set after The Shroud.

The Space Between - A conversation between friends. [Set post-Heroes, but with end of series spoilers as well.] This one is also available at LJ.

Thank you again!

So, at work and so totally concentrating on my very few remaining follow ups, I went digging through some old folders on my computer that were happily brought along from my old one and stored in a file in a file in a file never to be seen again. One such file is marked Cat – Personal, so I look and find a crap ton of old stories I must have worked on here at one time. Some are from 2004 people.

So I did what any normal person would do and started clicking randomly to see what’s what. I found a couple I had already posted, but found a SG-1 story from January 2007, another from 2008, ten pages of a SGA kid fic from 2008, and some of my original notes from my K-series stuff from 2004 - including the names and such I went looking for two years ago, could not find, said screw it, and reinvented from scratch.

Things I have learned:
1) I should probably clean these things out more often.

2) I have a bad habit of writing pages upon pages of fic, and then moving on to something new (I’m looking at you, you 50 pages of “Days of Forever”).

3) I have worked for the same company for far too long.

4) They, like, totally don’t look at what’s on our personal drives in ancient folders, do they?

5) I may, possibly, have the attention span of a gnat today.

Sending the kid fic one home to possibly poke at while on the trip because it amuses: I downsized McKay, Sheppard, and Kavanaugh. Might send one of the SG-1 ones home as well because I have a crap-ton of notes on Anat for an Anat and Ba’al loose on Earth fic.

Been meaning to post these for a while, but finally have access to my server back as of today. Twelve Daniel icons, all from the SG-1 episode "Holiday" and all with the possibility of innuendo. Also, four extra icons with a hint of a dragon theme.

Asteroid passes extremely close to Earth.

- Not detected until Saturday, passed on Monday

- Global council debates need to track these things

- Devastation would depend on what it was made of... like, say, naquada?

Yeah, yeah, global destruction, force of 1,000 Hirishimas, etc. And yet, I giggle because I am a fan geek.

If Jack got a hold of Daniel's cell phone and reset the ringtone, what would he set it to? [Imagine he had Sam's help if necessary.]

So far, I can only come up with "Oops, I Did It Again" by Britney Spears, or possibly something from the Backstreet Boys, just to annoy him.

Ideas?

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] icarusancalion:
Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!

Because it's me, some are longer than a sentence...

1. He forced his eyes open, and as they adjusted to the dim light surrounding him, the voice repeated, “Can you hear me, my Dan-yel?”

2. Not bothering to wait for pleasantries and the chance of a dropped call, he rushed, “This is Doctor Daniel Jackson. I’m about two miles from the base and there’s been accident; there was an avalanche."

3. He could have made witty remarks about Jumpers and bombs and their history, but his heart wasn’t in it and his mind was miles away.

4. “Quantum Mirror?” Sheppard guessed a bit sheepishly, rubbing a hand through his already thoroughly mussed hair.

5. “Hey, I’ve learned a lot from the internet,” Rodney insisted. “You should see some of the stuff out there written about us. Oh, the things we could be doing if you were cuter and I was more flexible...”

6. “So all we have to do is track down a life-sucking space vampire on a planet full of Wraith Happy Meals and put him on a timeout?”

And I kept it down to only 6! Some are actively being worked on. Some, er, not-so-much...

Running away now...

It's done! It's hosted on my main Storypage, but not yet linked from the index due to some remaining access issues with the laptop I'm still using. Please, if you see any errors or have any problems whatsoever, let me know and I will try to fix them as quickly as possible.

Title: Small Problems

Genre: Gen, Team, Kid Fic, Hurt/Comfort

Rating: High PG-13 due to violence and language.

Length: Just over 80,000 words.

Spoilers/Season: Set shortly after “Fragile Balance”

Synopsis: The team returns from a routine mission with three of the four members physically altered. With their health deteriorating, and factions on Earth after them for their own less than noble means, will they be able to find a cure before it’s too late?

Author’s Notes: I have worked on this story for longer than I am willing to admit. It is extremely long, topping out at over 80,000 words and 172 pages. Also, I am quite frankly terrified of posting it.

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or universe depicted in this story. I am simply borrowing them to play with and making no profit from my efforts.

Please note, due to the sheer size of this thing, it is being hosted off site at my web page in four parts. If you have any issues accessing these pages, please let me know.

Feedback is not only welcomed, but greatly appreciated.

On the long car ride back from Duluth, we stopped to get some gas and waters for us, and Youngest was going on about his game he was playing on his Gameboy. After a rather long, rambling explanation of levels and something I honestly don't remember, this was our conversation:

Me: To quote O'Neill in the first Atlantis ep, honey, "That was a waste of a perfectly good explanation."

Youngest: Why?

Me: Because I understand none of it and don't know the context.

Youngest: [huffs] If John was playing this game, he would never get past this level. I don't think he'd know how.

Eldest: If Sheppard was playing this game, he'd be going around shooting Pokemon.

Youngest: What if his gun ran out of power?

Eldest: He'd switch to his P-90.

My sons, they are fanboys.

To bookend the previous post...

Five Bad Fics I’m Totally Not Writing [SG-1 Style]

1- Jumping Jack Flashed
Okay, so maybe he shouldn’t have played with that little idol thingy on Daniel’s desk... but why is everyone on base suddenly damn near humping his leg and stripping down in front of him? It's really not *that* warm on the base. And really, that was a side of Hammond he could have gone without seeing. Ever.

2- The Gods Must Be Crazy
The Trust have unleashed a new virus upon the System Lords, making them even more insane than usual. Now they are dictating Jaffa dress codes and worrying about color schemes instead of defending their fleets. It would be a prime time to attack, if everyone who ever had a symbiote in them didn’t suddenly start painting the Gate Room to coordinate with the new curtains.

3. The Milky Way vs. the SGC
The planets of the Milky Way have banded together to file a class action lawsuit against the SGC for delinquent child support. Hammond finally discovers just what all those secret welcoming rituals were all about.

4. Shar'e and Shar'e Alike
Ba'al's not the first one to play with cloning. Apparently Apophis made back-up copies of his perfect mate and now Daniel has to explain to Good Father why he can't be Good Husband to them all. Shar'e numbers 1 through 7 beg to disagree.

5. There's No Place Like Home
Daniel needs a shave, Sam hates gingham, Teal'c's emblem seems a bit more all-encompassing, and Jack's living the dream.

Wonderfully awesome SG-1 fic just posted: We Don't Pray That Way by [livejournal.com profile] hariboo_smirks. Written for the [livejournal.com profile] apocalypse_kree comm, so you have an idea of the content.

Summary: SG-1 was offworld when Earth as we know it was destroyed. Here's what happens.

Now, I usually don't like complete apocalypse-type fics, or fics that feature death of characters, even background characters, that we have come to know over the course of the series. This was just that well done. The emotions, the thoughts, everything is so in character, it's truly a wonderful read. No, it's not a happy subject. Yes, it's worth the effort.

"The Only Wining Move" by [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic
It's time for the bi-annual training exercises at the SGC again.

At 0955, after reading the instructions in their second envelopes, the two SFs guarding the door to Isolation Room 2 looked at each other. "We're gonna get shot," Brooks said.

It's Gen (I know, I was shocked too...) and it is awesome.

There's a new community for plot bunnies and stories ideas and such. Need inspiration? Have a story idea that's going nowhere that you're willing to put up for grabs? Trying to figure out something on one of your own fics? Try [livejournal.com profile] pbcentral (plot bunny central).

I had been debating starting a comm for Stargate prompts (SG-1 and SGA), but was kind of at a loss as to where to begin. This kind of fills the void though. Any fandom (including non-fandom) welcome. Only members see the posts.

I know I've mainly been posting SGA fic lately, but I have still been working on SG-1 fic as well. I just haven't finished any really until now. Sorry.

Title: Secrets
Genre: SG-1, Team, Gen
Season/Spoilers: Post-Series
Rating: PG-13
Synopsis: A bottle of Abydonian homebrew is put to good use.
Author's Notes: I was debating calling this one "Spin the Bottle" but thought people might get the wrong impression. :)
Disclaimer: I don’t own them, people with a lot of money do. I’m just borrowing them and not making any profit from this.
