One of Those Days

 I wrote a little drabble inspired by my work day.  I kept it to 100 words by cutting out some of the more violent phrasing.  Yes, it is one of those days...

No one really knew what caused her to snap.  It may have been the rows of bland gray cubes lined up like a warden’s cells, or the windows that looked out upon rolling fields, but never opened to allow the fresh air of nature to enter.  It could have been the food, flash frozen and reheated for consumption, or even the droning tones of her coworkers going about their day, blissfully unaware of the danger lurking beside them.

 

The truth?  It was the art deco birds chained to the ceiling in a mockery of freedom.  They were her first target.
