Merlin!
Quick reaction post because I keep forgetting to do these...
BABY DRAGON!!! OMG!!!
I want a baby dragon. I want *that* baby dragon. At least possibly as an icon. Trufax.
I also think the knights were kind of dicks to Merlin, but really and truly have to believe that bowl Leon offered was a full serving that he and Gwaine saved for Merlin and that they were not truly slap-worthy.
And let's not go into what it could mean that Arthur wakes up when his keys are touched but not when Merlin lays across him in bed. Or how many manis will be made of him with his trousers down and arms braced against a table.
In summary: BABY DRAGON!
One little thing is bugging me about 4.03 and not just that they cut scenes that would add to both the Arthur and Merlin trust aspect and the whole Arthur/Gwen thing we are supposed to seeing. (Odd random note: my autocorrect wanted to sub in Gwaine for Gwen... And I almost did not catch it...)
Anyway, at the end, after Uther dies and Gaius comforts Merlin by letting him know it was the necklace and not Merlin's magic that killed Uther, why the hell doesn't Gaius mention the necklace to Arthur? Wouldn't that maybe, possibly, help Arthur understand that the old wizard honestly tried to help but that someone else had gotten to his father first, especially since there were known assassins about?
It is bugging me for now. Not sure what I will do with this bug though as of yet.

I was ok with the food teasing, it seemed like they were all in on it. It was a bit mean, but I guess it's a manly bonding thing? *shrug* What I didn't like was them letting Merlin sleep on his own, away from the fire. WTF? I'm sure there was a way to fit ALL of them around the fire, duh. And how come no one was on watch? Sure Merlin was supposed to have his tete-a-tete with the Druids... but... urgh. Little things like this bug me. It's not really unique to this show though.. I guess that's ok? It's just teevee?
Whatevs. Sorry. ;)
And let's not go into what it could mean that Arthur wakes up when his keys are touched but not when Merlin lays across him in bed.
You know, I actually LOL'ed when Arthur gravitated towards Merlin in that first woodworm scene. He knows instinctively what he's missing in bed. :DDD
Ahhh, that Gaius scene. From what I've read, people seem to be arguing whether it would make a difference or not. I'd like to think it would. But then again... *shrug* I seem to have found a new respect for Gaius. I mean, he's survived all this time. Sure he's had to do so many despicable things, but he's alive, isn't he? And in a position of power and influence. I'd like to think that he knows of the coming of Emrys, and he wanted to be in place, to make sure it happens. I don't think he would've let himself live in Camelot, standing beside Uther for so long.
And I liked that he only wanted the dragon egg to be safe, and not fall into the baddie's hands. That was a good foil to Merlin's intentions.
Er.. tl;dr? Heee.
Have a good week ahead! <3

or are you writing your own take on it? :D

Talking with E, she is fairly certain they gave him a bowl full of food at the end (it's kind of unclear how it's cut) and that they were just teasing "as idiot 20-something boys are wont to do" - I guess I could buy that.
The no one on watch thing has bugged me for a while. They pretty much never have anyone looking out, and someone *always* goes trouncing around at night with no one the wiser. Le sigh. Le grande sigh.
As for Gaius... Merlin so needs to break free from his mentor and his ways. If Arthur is to rule a new age for the kingdom, Merlin needs to rule a new age for magic, and stop turning to someone who survived through lies and fear for advice at every turn. Yes, Merlin still has a lot to learn, but he really can't learn if Gaius keeps the important stuff under wraps.
