It might not seem like it right now with the distinct lack of posting, but I really am actually writing. I've got two long fics I'm poking at that are nowhere near done yet, so it'll be a while still.
So, here's the issue: both fics focus on the same characters and I've reached that almost-obsession stage about said characters. I think I need a break? Like, a little distraction so that I can come back to them with the excited "what are they going to do next?" and not just "oh, hey, you guys again..."

A (very) belated thanks for all the well wishes for the new year.
RL has been interesting in the Irish sense of the word, and all-consuming in pretty much the literal. I've been hiding out, writing self-indulgent fic the few spare moments I have, and hoping for things to calm down enough soon enough.

Sorry I haven't been around much - RL has been a little beyond stressful and time-consuming as of late. I do have two short stories to post, and have been working on asoul-consuming longer one that I want to at least finish the draft of soon.

Back from CONvergence Con where I spent pretty much every day since last Wednesday doing something for the con.
Full disclaimer: I volunteer at the con and am a member of the convention committee. My views may be biased, but in weird ways.
Anyways, helped with move-in and set-up on Wednesday and then both worked with my department and attended panels and the like from Thursday through Sunday, save for when I was called away for still con-related stuff, but not directly at the con for a few hours.
It was fun, but damn am I tired. So glad that I have figured out to take the following Monday off of work as well so I can try to catch up on some sleep.
Check out the main site for general info about the con and guests and the like. Check out the #cvg2015 tag on Tumblr and Twitter for pics far better than anything I got. I will say that multiple guests to the con have stated publically that they have liked this one better than some of the others around. Maybe it's the Minnesota Nice schtick, or maybe it's because we actually try to pay attention to them as something more than monkeys to perform on command. Whatever it is, we're nice to them, they're nice to us, and it makes it far lower stress all around. :)
There were some awesome costumes and cool panels and beautiful artwork too. That's not to say there weren't some grumpy drunks and assholes along the way as well, but there's going to be that pretty much anywhere.
Anyway, I am rambly, which is a sign of how awake I am. I still need to prep for mom's visit later this week as well, so...

Him: Oh my god! I love that show! I'm, like, behind two episodes though.
Me: Did you know it was renewed?
Him: It was? Excellent!
Me: Yep, Agent Carter, Agents of SHIELD, and Orphan Black were all renewed.
Second Cashier: He's never going to sleep again...
He also complimented E's She Hulk shirt and debated potential casting with her. This is after he assured a little girl that yes, he remembered her Barbie but figured she didn't want it in the same bag as her brother's Ultron doll, "even though Barbie could totally kick his butt."
This was also after hitting the archery range where a blonde man in a Hawkeye purple t-shirt was both shooting beside us and complimenting our shots and shirts.
Some days, people aren't half bad.
