Unpopular Fannish Opinion

Have not seen the newest Merlin eps, but have been inundated with spoilers. Mentioned them to [personal profile] wolfie74 and we came up with a theory:

So Aithusa "chose" Morgana at the end of Series 4 and everyone was like WTF is going on here?

Theory 1: Other than Merlin, Morgana is one of the few powerful magic users left. She is magic just like he is. Dragons are creatures of magic. Maybe he was drawn to protect her the way he is drawn to protect magic.

Theory 2: There were originally not just Dragonlords, but Dragonladies as well. Morgana's mother was the last of her kind. Her children inherited her magic and Morgana, as the last of that family line, inherently has a bit of that going on. [personal profile] wolfie74 believes this might help explain why the castle was so easily able to capture Kilgarrah - that it was not just Balinor at work.

Theory 3: The myth of the beginning of Wales with Aithusa being the ice dragon and Kilgarrah being the red dragon. The ice dragon (and Morgana) will take the city (for the 1636252nd time) and then the red dragon must fight him to win it back. This would mean Aithusa vs. Kilgarrah and likely Morgana vs. Merlin at the end of the series.

Theory 4: Combine all of these, heat with fandom feels until thoroughly baked, serve warm.

Thoughts?

Ooh, interesting. I especially like the idea of Morgana being some kind of unwitting dragonlady, because, you know, why should there only be dragonlords?

My own, admittedly highly unlikely, theory at the time was that dragons don't necessarily like dragonlords very much, because of the whole being able to override your free will thing, so it wasn't so much that Aithusa chose Morgana as she reacted against Merlin.
