Rodney knew how it would end the moment it began. Sheppard was free; his team with the added bonus of Doctor Keller were not. They waited in the darkened silence, neither he nor Ronon nor Teyla surprised at the sudden burst of gunfire, the explosions rocking the complex. There has not been enough time to contact Atlantis for reinforcements, but they knew their freedom was approaching.
When Sheppard appeared, stained with blood and sweat, leaning against the blasted doorway with a wry, “Miss me?” all his team could do is nod. There was no other way for it to end.
