SGA - Surviving (AU)

Title: Surviving
Genre: SGA, Gen, Genderswitch
Rating: PG-13
Season/Spoilers: None specific
Synopsis: No one knows the things she’s done to survive. No one wants to.
Author’s Notes: In the Jill and Mer universe, I decided to keep Ronon male and Teyla female. Here I wanted to explore what Ronon would have been like in a universe where he was female. Triple drabble (300 words).
Synopsis: I don’t own the SGA universe, people with a lot of money do. I’m just borrowing it to play with and making no profit from the experience.

No one knows the things she’s done to survive. No one wants to. Seven years on the run from the Wraith. Seven years of not knowing where her next meal will come from, not knowing if simply stopping for a rest will cost kindhearted strangers their lives. Seven years without knowing the concept of love.

When they find her, free her from this torture, she doesn’t know whether to be thankful, or resentful. She’s reintroduced to a “normal” life, but simply doesn’t know what normal is anymore. She’s given food without hunting. She’s given clothing without stealing. She’s given friendship without asking. She’s given a life she doesn’t know what to do with.

She remembers her past; it’s hard to forget after reliving glimpses of it every night. She remembers the people she cared about, watching them destroyed until there was nothing left. She thinks about everything she lost as she curls in around herself, hiding in the shadows. She thinks about the child never to be borne, and doesn’t know if she should feel sorrow at the loss, or relief that at least someone will not have to face this darkness. She doesn’t cry, having forgotten how to long before the tears dried up. There was simply never any time.

She makes a spectacle of herself during the day, being the strongest, the toughest. She fights, she spars, she watches. She hopes to teach them, hopes they can learn from what she had to endure. She hopes they never have to go through it on their own.

They come to her one night, bid her to come with them, tell her she’s part of the team. It’s been so long, she’s not sure if she knows what that means any more. She would kind of like to find out.
