My DW page feeds overs to my LJ page. I went to check LJ and all formatting and styles are gone. Went through the settings, updated, yadda. The preview shows me what I chose. I went back to my main page, and it's still the bullshit with half the page being "widgets" that I neither want nor need.

Anyone know how to fix this? Or does it only show like this to me because it's my journal and I'm logged in?

I'm also really hating the friends page that is also half widgets and the actual content crammed into half a screen.

Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Poking at some WIPs that have been sitting for a while, but my heart's not really in it. Out of nowhere, I really want to work both on my original stuff again, and a couple of WIPs that I have forgotten about for literally years because they are trapped on my dead laptop and/or on a thumb drive that I'm not sure our server will take.

Laptop was Windows-based and has a key stuck in a way we cannot get fixed. It reads as jammed, but we removed it and can't find any actual noticeable issue, even as it still registers as stuck. Partner was trying, and couldn't get it and everything keeps shorting out because you seriously cannot get anything but error messages out of anything. She set it aside, and now we're not sure where the power cable is, so even if I take it in, I'm not sure I could turn it on. Not to mention I am now spoiled with the battery life of my iPad versus the two hours that sucker could hold a charge.

Thumb drives should, in theory work, save for two things: The first is that they are formatted to Windows and we only have Macs now save for the dead laptop. The last time my partner tried one (which thankfully only had one thing on it), it tried to erase and reformat the thing. The second thing is that I am terrified of using a computer at like a library or something and getting a virus and losing everything.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on this? Or a smack upside the head for being technologically inept when computers should totally be able to read a fricken word doc on any platform?

My notifications for a couple different sites seem to have gone wiggy in the past few days. It's nice not getting 1,001 emails for sales at stores I no longer shop at, but I was briefly afraid my email itself was down.

Thankfully, LJ sending me email telling me I have my thirtieth spam message on the same old post proved that wrong.

Why is it always the same three rather old LJ posts that get spam comments?

Eternals, I Can See Tomorrow from Here, and Only Say the Word and I Shall.

Attempted to change my Tumblr name today, like I have been planning to do for over a week, only to find someone claimed my usual name in the mean time.

Sigh.

Anyway, waitingtodance -> cat--77 for now.

Had to use the double dash to get it to work because cat77 was already taken. Anyone else have any suggestions of the possibly less confusing sort?

Anyone else not getting emails about LJ replies/comments? The inbox on the site itself updates, but nothing is sent to my actual email address. I have trouble remembering to reply to start with, and this is really not helping.

Anyone else having issues of:

A) Communities not showing in the drop down menu as an option when posting but giving you access to post when you go to the community itself?

B) Communities not showing on your profile page, but listing you as a member with posting access when you go to the community itself?

Or is this just a pure and random LJ Suck thing?

Apologies to the mods of the two communities I just tried to post my fic to. Apparently iPad has some issues with LJ and DW coding:
- On LJ, I cannot scroll through the available tags and can only see what's on the first page worth of the menu. When I try to edit the tags, it only shows me what tags I have already chosen as the available tags.

- On DW, it claims I have no tags if I try to edit the tags in any post, including those to my own journal.

IDEK.

I was able to log in to a desktop to correct the tags on one, but the other is a modded community and it would not let me go back. Awesome.

Edit: I think I have them all fixed now. Sorry!

A few weeks back, [personal profile] wolfie74 got me an iPad with select commentary on my somewhat dying netbook. I have been playing around with it a bit, but am having issues with Safari (which comes installed) not recognizing frames in either LJ or Dreamwidth. It is having issues with drop down menus in general as well, especially trying to upload a pic to LJ's gallery.

Does anyone know how to fix or work around this? Because I am rather at a loss.

Thank you kindly in advance!

Okay, so I have a ridiculously high number of invite codes for Dreamwidth because a) they just sent me two emails full of them for some reason, and b) I may have, possibly, forgotten to offer some really old ones a while back.

Comment or PM me if you want one/some, otherwise I am thinking of offering at least some to [community profile] camelot_fleet’s bank for use at parties and other events.

Sigh… parties… I do miss them so. Maybe someone’s up for a hiatus-breaker party? Or maybe a just-because-we-can party? Or even a hey-the-sky-is-blue-and-I-have-chocolate party?

The new little header thing on LJ that's trying ever so hard to imitate the little header thing on DW is telling me I have 415 messages in my In Box. Er, yeah... I need to get to those.

Some of them I have already replied to but forgot to delete, and some are PMs that I did not know I had so, um, sorry for some very late replies that may or may not be starting shortly.

In other news, work sucks (slightly more than usual), writer's block is attempting to hit while I have two entries due and really wanted to work on a third, and my new glasses need to be adjusted because those little nose piece thingies just plain hurt right now. [Typing this without glasses, so sorry for random typos.]

In other, other news, Spring has sprung in MN where we had a 90 degree day yesterday that was all the more surprising for having snow last week. Currently have the windows open and the fans on, but are not watching the idiot students across the street climb their roof in a rain storm (that was last night and they do so hate to be repetitive).

Running away to see if I can get anything productive done writing-wise tonight. Cheers.

So apparently on top of the most recent random Dreamwidth code giveaway thingy, I had a bunch I never realized I had? Let me know if you want one.

I know LJ has been a pain for many lately while they fight whatever it is that is attacking their servers, so this is an alternative if you are interested, and does still allow cross-posting so you can keep your LJ as well (as this post can hopefully attest to).

It's that time again: the year in review fic-wise. There's not quite as many as usual, and there are still some to be revealed, but this is it so far:

Year of Fic )

61 stories total, unless you count Maggie, and then it is 68. I have several more in progress, but not ready to post, so this is likely it for the year.

As an added bonus, [personal profile] wolfie74 just came in to say she believes she got my site up and running again! Last update was roughly two years ago (that we found a copy of), so there be a lot of new pages that need to be made.

Edit: It was pointed out I forgot two SGA comment fics that were never crossposted anywhere. Those are now added and totals are updated and maybe I should put them in separate posts for archiving purposes? Or maybe I should just find some caffeine instead.

Why did no one tell me how awesomely easy RSS feeds are to do on Dreamwidth? I was fighting with them over on LJ, but here it's pretty much "click here and you are done" and that just rocks. Mix that with the few feeds I have on LJ making the formatting wonky or cutting off images from the feed versus DW adding the framing code so you can just slide over to see the rest? Yet another reason why DW is awesome. *g*

Looks like LJ is about to go all asshattery again. At least one comm is trying to find a solution by transferring over to DW. Ah, [community profile] fanficrants, how can we ever live without you? *g*

Hey! I found our T4 page on the Wayback Machine! No idea if all the download links work or not. The background image is missing, so it comes across as light text on a light background though. Vids from Buffy, Xena, Farscape, Cleo 2525, Dark Angel, and SG-1 are there, as well as our charity vid that helped raise a couple grand (which is never a bad thing).

They have my Storypage too, but only archived to the end of 2008, so everything I updated in 2009 is lost. However, the majority of the SG-1 and SGA stories are there, so that's cool.

But hey! Pages! Especially cool considering who the fuck knows when access will be restored to the real thing.

Most of our web page is back! The Storypage and T4 Productions video site are back up and running.

Not everything is 100% yet, but it's much closer than it's been for a while. :)

Yep, it's down. Nope, no idea when it will be up again. Yep, it's very annoying.

It was having issues before we upgraded our server, and seems to have gotten worse after we did so. We have the server with the web stuff, D has the server with the mail stuff. Somehow, the great and powerful internet decided to point all beltran[dot]nu requests to his server, including the things hosted on ours, and thus everything is getting a not found error.

He was going to look into fixing this, something he said should not be that hard, several weeks ago. When asked this weekend, he said he had not gotten around to it yet. There is a reason why we call him Putz Boy, and there is a reason he answers to it.

In the interim, most stories are hosted here on LJ, except for the ones from my pre-LJ days. SG-1 fic is mostly available over at The Alpha Gate under my author tag of Cat. Xena stuff has hopefully faded into non-existence after all these years. SGA stuff has some here and some lost in the ether right now. Merlin and others should all be here under the tags. All the vids from T4 are lost until this is fixed.

Sorry for the hassle. Some day, maybe, if we're really good, the Internet Fairies will see fit to wave their magic wands at us once more and all connections will be restored. Maybe.

Sigh.

I would like to get my comment notifications. Really I would. I know it's such a pesky little thing but, really, it's something you signed on for so you should really expect it by now.

No love,

Cat.

Just spent the last hour fighting with iTunes and shouting such things as "Why? Why can't I order my Metallica songs when you let me order my Nelly Furtado songs? Give me a reason!"

Also, for some reason, updating iTunes has shorted out my email. IDEK.

On the up side, I have access to our music server again, so there's that.

On the even higher up side, [personal profile] wolfie74 is about to take me out to Pagoda and there is never any bad in that. *g*
