Apocalyptic

This came to me on my way in to work this morning.  Yes, it's already that kind of day.

Title:  Apocalyptic
Spoilers:  Mitchell's in it.
Category:  Drabble
Synopsis:  The day the apocalypse came, no one was ready.
Disclaimer:  I don't own them, a bunch of people with a lot of money do.

The day the apocalypse came, no one was ready. Mitchell stood in stunned silence before rushing to help Sam as she tried every technological means at her disposal to stop it. Daniel tried negotiating, eventually ascending again to meet them on their own level. He returned, beaten, bloodied, and pissed. The Ancients were in a battle of their own and did not want his interference. He laughed hollowly at the irony.

The team readied their resources for a battle they would likely not win. It did not matter. To fight, they still had hope. To give up was to fail.

Feedback is nice.

Now, per request, with sequel:  Apocalyptic: Fallen

Hmm, strange. Maybe lj was being goofy? I only have it here for now, not at my site. Try: http://cat-77.livejournal.com/9856.html#cutid1

This is just BEGGING for a more extended treatment. The Drabble left me shivering just thinking of the possible outcomes.

Thanks! It was supposed to be a one-shot deal, inspired by some major destruction on the way to work, but I read your post right before heading out the door to my boys' practice last night and thought about it a bit. I came up with a second one, but left it at home by accident. I might post it from there tonight if it still seems to work.
