Have not seen the newest Merlin eps, but have been inundated with spoilers. Mentioned them to [personal profile] wolfie74 and we came up with a theory:

I may have possibly decided against Yuletide this year (just not feeling it?), but impulse signed up for [livejournal.com profile] avengers_xchng instead.

Not sure if I need to say it, but figure better safe than sorry, so...

Apologies in advance for the various warnings on the next slew of stories waiting to be posted. I have been writing entries for [community profile] hc_bingo, which in themselves can warrant certain warnings. Apparently my mind decided there simply was not enough angst, and had to add some more? Or something?

So, please read the warnings before you read the next fics. The ones I know for certain thus far include:
- allusion to eating disorders
- homophobia
- PTSD
- miscarriage(s)
- abuse of Whitney Houston references

I think that's it, for now? Sorry? They all do tie in to the plots though, for really. I may have just had a backlog of angst and anger built up from not writing for so long, and it just needed a way out.

Still behind on replies - sorry! With the work situation the way it is, this may continue for a while.

In positive news, I am actually writing again! Like, on a semi-regular basis even! Thank you, noise-canceling headphones and Bluetooth keyboard for iPad! (The mini is still hosed, but we got the keyboard to work.)

Which brings us to... A new Merlin challenge!

Merlin University Fest

We had been talking about something like this on [community profile] camelot_fleet a while ago, so it is very cool to see this up and running. Best part is that you can prompt for some of the lesser written for but not lesser loved characters as well! *cough*Freya*cough*Elena*cough*Vivian*cough*

At the very least, there should be some new uni-based fic on its way!

And that is quite enough exclamation points for me in one morning, especially pre-caffeine.

Back from con. Am exhausted. Should have taken tomorrow off from work to recover. Debating calling in if I feel anywhere near this dis-coordinated and out of it in the morning.

Good things:
- Teen room took minimal prompting and, for the most part, everyone was on board with getting things done.

- Teen room got crap tons of comments from EVERYONE (con goers, con committee members, guests, etc) about how awesome it was and what a great idea it was.

- Panels were both interesting and entertaining, at least the ones I went to.

- Lyda Moorehouse is made of awesome and win and is totally a fangirl in real life. I thought this when she crashed the Slash Panel and joined in the squee. Thought it more when she literally jumped back and nearly fell out of her chair when Tamara Pierce hissed at her over the love of a specific character.

- So many fans being kind and supportive of other fans, even if they were not part of that specific fandom.

- Impromptu gender identity and gender queer panel in empty room. Interesting discussion. Also loved that the hotel people saw a large-ish group of people sitting and talking and wordlessly snuck in pitchers of water and cups like they did for the "official" groups and panels.

Less-than-good things:
- Some people had a bit of entitlement issues thinking they were special snowflakes and why weren't you paying attention to them? Oddly enough, this was absolutely none of the guests of honor and, for the most part, not any of the people who have worked their asses off for the past year planning this thing.

- Oh so very tired.

All in all, a rather good time.

Will try to play catch up on my feeds over the next few days. Mistyping and fighting with autocorrect enough right now to know to call it quits for the night.

Work today and leaving directly for Con once I'm free. There will be internet access because you cannot put 4,900+ geeks in one place without someone offering a source, but there will also be tons of other stuff to do, so I'm not sure how much I'll be playing online.

We managed to get the Gaming rooms mostly sorted, the Teen Room pointed in the direction of sorting themselves, and a relatively significant (for us, anyway) hotel FUBAR sorted out as well. [personal profile] wolfie74 still needs her ComCon badge sorted today, else I am the sole adult contact for the Teen Room with one, and we all know that will end poorly. All in all, it was a productive day in the holy-fuck-it's-how-hot heat.

For anyone interested, here's the link again. They are selling badges at the door, but it would have been cheaper to get them earlier (like get next year's at the end of this year's Con).

In short, much like the withdrawl headache I will have from all the caffiene on Sunday, CONvergence is imminent. :)

Bullet points are like friends, they keep you in place:

- It is 90* here. It has been 90* or higher for most of the week. It will continue to be 90* or higher for most of next week.

- We have no AC at home.

- Will be at CONvergence from sometime Thursday through sometime Sunday. The theme this year is Awesome Women of Sci-Fi. Sophie Aldred is one of the guests of honor. I can't wait to see [personal profile] wolfie74 fangirl all over her. We're also helping Youngest, Eldest, & friends with the Teen Room as the adult contacts. It's been interesting seeing some of the behind the scenes of con.

- There is AC at the hotel.

- I have totally been writing... a little bit. Have a few ideas for [community profile] hc_bingo, both mapped out and in progress, but it's been slow going due to work and not really being in a writing groove at all so far this year.

- I will totally play catch up on comments... soon? Sorry!

- I have also fallen into Avengers fandom somehow. I'd blame [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper and [livejournal.com profile] threnodyjones, but I kinda sorta asked them for recs, so that might toss that argument out the window. That said, more recs are always welcomed. *g*

- It's after 10 am. I should probably go eat breakfast. And maybe even feed Eldest & Youngest in the process.

Totally stolen from [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper:

Name a character and I will tell you:
1) The most interesting canon fact about them
2) Something from my personal canon about them

Any canon you know I know, or think I know, is up for grabs.

Saw this on [personal profile] sophinisba's page and, after a brief bit of hemming and hawing, decided to sign up. The worse that happens is that I don't complete anything. The best is that I break away from this writing slump of mine.

Bonus points for possible angst fodder?

The Color Meme that going around everywhere:

you are forestgreen
#228B22

Your dominant hue is green. You're logical and steadfast, focused on figuring life out and doing what makes sense. You value being trusted because you know you're taking the time to figure things out and everyone should just follow you.

Your saturation level is higher than average - You know what you want, but sometimes know not to tell everyone. You value accomplishments and know you can get the job done, so don't be afraid to run out and make things happen.

Your outlook on life can be bright or dark, depending on the situation. You are flexible and see things objectively.

My fave part? The fact that the comments to the meme devolve into Sherlock fangirling. *g*

Yes, I am avoiding doing real things right now, why do you ask?

It's possible I may have fallen down a new rabbit hole. Trying out a new fandom, at least for a little while.

Title: Unaccompanied
Fandom: Avengers, Black Widow
Genre: Gen, hint of Clint/Natasha friendship
Rating: PG
Length: ~3,400 words
Spoilers: Very general for movie
Warnings: Implications of off screen non-con and abuse for an OC
Synopsis: It was hard to be a loner when you were never alone.
Author’s Notes: I kinda sorta fell in love with the Black Widow character and have gobbled up as many comics and references as I can find since first being introduced to her. Hopefully I have done her a bit of justice.
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters and am making no profit from this.

Had someone ask, which reminded me someone else asked, which reminded me that I totally forgot to reply, which reminded me I lost which entry anyway, which led me to post this.

Please feel free to create creations based upon my creations. Pod fic, art, and translations of fic into different languages are all welcome. I get a little iffy about remixes of actual stories due to past experiences with plagiarism, so please ask about those first.

My only request for any/all of theses is twofold:
1). Don't claim my original work as your own.
2). Share a link with what you made so I can link to it as well.

Sorry I keep forgetting to reply to individual requests - life is still a bit insane around here to say the least. Thank you for your patience in dealing with my absentmindedness.

Just finished reading Mockingjay, the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy.

I... didn't like it as much as the other two.

Hunger Games was awesome. The plot pushed you through it and the action and angst were interspersed with a constant thread of self-depreciating humor - which is exactly what I love best. Catching Fire continued this, and included backstory and fleshed out the stage even more, dropping hints here and there and then carrying through on some foreshadowing whilst using others as a distraction.

The beginning of Mockingjay worked for me but, about halfway through or so, it just... didn't. The situations and characters seemed too forced and too over-the-top. It became almost a characiture of the other books. This could be seen as furthering the statement of the world the characters found themselves in in general, but instead came across more as "let's make this bigger and better and more!" instead. There were deaths of characters that did not need to die, and they were mentioned in passing as more of an afterthought than as a moving moment, which is what you would expect after the build up. The ending was okay, but almost fell flat, like the author was trying to figure out a way to wrap things up and be done.

Yes, I am keeping this purposefully vague so as to not ruin it for anyone who has not read it yet and/or for people who may disagree.

If Hunger Games was a 10 (or 9.5), Catching Fire was about an 8.5 and Mockingjay fell down to maybe a 6, if not a 5. Better than some of the stuff out there, but a bit of a disappointment after the utter excellence of the way it began.

Again, I just finished it and desperately need to go to sleep so I can go to work in the morning, but this is how things sit in my mind as of now.

Totally stole this from [livejournal.com profile] threnodyjones.

Totally running late for work because of this.

Or possibly because I am stalling.

Your result for The Fan Fiction Personality Test ...
The Mindgamer

Everything is possible, nothing is ever really over.

Fanfiction is a creative outlet for you. You don't intentionally write it, it just happens. You find inspiration in several fandoms, but are not obsessed with only one.

You like to explore "what if" situations. What if this character had never made this very choice? What if this event had taken place sooner, never, elsewhere? What if these people had never met?

You are likely to write Alternative Universes, fan seasons or sequels and just follow your (sometimes pretty strange) plot bunnies.

So I was chatting with [livejournal.com profile] threnodyjones via email at work today as one is wont to do when one does not want to do one's work, and we got to discussing the need for wing!fic and the possibility of a multi-fandom wing!fic meme-like thing.

Would anyone be interested in such a thing? Because, really, what fandom couldn't do with more randomly and possibly mystically bewinged beings? And, if one of your fandoms already has a winged being, why not have said being share the love?

Also, she *really* wants a fic in which some mystical/magical being ends up accidentally giving a non-magical/mystical being wings after screwing them senseless and the newly bewinged being exclaiming, "Wow, this is like the best STD ever!"

Thoughts? Interest? I'm thinking of something where people leave prompts and/or answers to prompts and/or randomness they come up with on their own in one post and a master-post later. Did I mention she may already be working on a graphic should we do this? *wince*
