So when is someone going to make an Agents of SHIELD video to the Bat for Lashes song "Tahiti"?

I am (once again) behind on answering comments, both on the journals and on AO3. I hope to play catch up this weekend? Maybe? For now, though, I have to pry myself out of bed and off to work.

Thank you everyone who has taken the time to read!

Agents of SHIELD - vague spoilers are vague )

In unrelated news, We Love Fine has some new shirts and I kinda sorta really want this one but I also kinda sorta really want this one. There's also some SHIELD-related ones, and a ton of Hawkeye ones as approved/chosen by Fraction & Aja, so there's that.

So [personal profile] wolfie74 and I have been watching Agents of SHIELD and she wants a fic wherein Skye is secretly Tony Stark's daughter and yes, I have been debating writing that one, but it's just not there yet.

I've been on an odd kick of pairings lately (it started with intense Fringe!feels, especially Redverse!feels) and now have delved a bit into Steve/Darcy as snarky friends if not more.

On the way home tonight, I had a thought. This thought may, of course, change. As of right now though, I want fic wherein Darcy is secretly a Buchanan. As in Bucky. As in Bucky's little sister is Darcy's grandma. As in all the awkwardness when this is revealed and they are getting ready to re-integrate the Winter Soldier and he discovers, as either Clint or Tony will so eloquently put it, that Steve "has been tapping that for months." Queue Steve with a black eye, Darcy with attitude towards her pseudo-great-uncle, and no one saying a word.

Yes/no?

Okay, semi-live blogging the episode, so possible spoilers. Had to list things that made me laugh aloud and/or that I just plain liked:

Cut because I care... )

Still want Clint or Natasha to guest, raise their eyebrows, and solve it all in like 3 seconds.

You know they would.

Have been writing a lot of hurt/comfort, serious, no-seriously-do-you-not-like-the-characters-or-do-you-just-like-to-see-them-suffer fic lately.

Does anyone have any cute/fluffy but still in character recs of the Clint- or Natasha-prominent type? Friends/teammates/more all accepted?

It's perfectly logical to add a character from Fandom A to a fic about Fandom B, right? Even though said character played a relatively minor role in the fandom and the character's fate is ambiguous as to whether or not said character survived, right?

Not even sure if I'm going to make this an actual crossover, or if I just want her there in the background. Though she may be called a Mary Sue if she knows even half of what she did in the original canon and people don't recognize her for who she is.

We have now reached the "aftermath of a con" stage of tiredness, so this may be jumbled.

Helped set up Wednesday, got our room Thursday, left late Sunday, went back and helped with final clean up today - long week. Long week sans booze as only two parents signed up to be the emergency contacts for the Teen Room, with said parents being [personal profile] wolfie74 and myself, on call, until roughly 3 am each day. I won't drink when I'm home alone with the kids in case they need me, so put me as potentially responsible for several dozen and I'm sticking to Sprite and the free chocolate chai from the coffee shop.

The Good
Some decent panels and awesome costumes and excellent vendors. Found one on the first day that had made jewelry out of Hawkeye comic stuffs, and could not resist. People were entertaining, food was plentiful, and the "go only clockwise on this floor and counterclockwise on that one" really helped with the traffic flows that have been issues in years past. People seemed decent with each other, and generally supportive of each other for the most part - some exceptions, yes, but generally very cool.

The Bad
The sheer amount of people meant extra trash. Mix this with a lack of trash cans and the place got messy fast - several people tried to help, but others outright tried to make bigger messes, which sucked. People tossing shit tons of booze in the can propping open the door to the Teen Room was stupid and could have gotten some good kids in trouble had the roaming cops found it. There was also a guy who outright offered my kid whiskey in the elevator line - not cool to say the least. Also not cool was a drunk guy making lewd remarks and gestures and cornering a fourteen year old girl we were trying to get to her room - got her out of there and his friend dealt with him.

The Lack of Fanfic
Okay, so sore point: every single panel on fanfic was dropped pre-con. There were panels on animal penises, but not on fic despite its popularity. Several people asked about it, including guests of honor, but there were no explanations offered. There was, however, a guerrilla slash panel because they cut that too despite its popularity and, needless to say, fic was discussed there despite the fact the makeshift location made it cramped and hard to hear. Because, really, slash shall persevere.

All in all, pretty good (extended) weekend. Warm, tired, and needing to go to work tomorrow. Night all.

Edit
Forgot to mention that, possibly in response to the whole lack of fanfic and slash thing, I wrote a 5K Clint/Tony fic while taking a break in our room. As you do. Posted once edited.

Headed out to CONvergence, where I will be for pretty much now until end of day Sunday.

Thousands of people, one (and a half) hotel(s), panels, art, and geeks of all types. I will attempt to remember to take pictures.

Here in MN there is a huge geek get together each year on the weekend of the Fourth of July. It is a convention known as CONvergence and has grown over the years from a two-day con to a four-day con with geeks of all walks of life well, converging in one place.

There are costumes and parties and panels and guests of honor and shopping and all sorts of things. Our kidlings at part of the group in charge of the Teen Room and, kinda by default, we're some of the Teen Room Moms for when something inevitably goes horribly wrong. So far, in two years, the worst was kicking people out of the room come 2 am while drunks were roaming about, so that's not bad.

Anyway, thought I would actually make a post about it as it is coming up pretty quickly now. For con-related updates, there is [twitter.com profile] CONvergenceCon and for live feed twitter updates during the con, they are going with #cvg2013 this time as the tag.

Debating doing a costume this year, possibly of Helena from Orphan Black, but don't know if I want to try to wrap three feet of hair up into curlers. I guess we'll see the day of because, really, it's not like I actually do something as sensible as plan this in advance - that would be silly. *g*

Is anyone else out there watching Orphan Black? It's on BBCAmerica right now, but supposedly going to air on BBC3 soon.

Truly excellent show. Would love someone to fangirl with about it.

Got a wonderful little present over at [community profile] fandom_stocking in the form of a Rory meets Methos drabble: Death and Rory Williams by [personal profile] lannamichaels! Go read!

I also got several new Avengers icons to choose from which means it's now time for the hard part which is, er, well, choosing. *g*

Very happy people liked my offering of a gift wrapped Sherlock as well!

Now to hope the DayQuil works well enough, quickly enough, that I can function at work.

Thank you to all the kind people in fandom!

Reveals are up for [livejournal.com profile] merlin_holidays! Pre-archived already over at AO3 and everything. :)

Title: Knights' Code
Recipient: meatball42
Rating: light R
Genre: Slash, Hurt/Comfort
Pairings: Gwaine/Leon
Word Count: ~2,250
Content/Warnings: None
Summary: The Knights' Code includes keeping your word, something Leon is very good at indeed.
Author's Notes: One of the prompts offered was a Gwaine/Leon coming together fic, and I rather liked the idea of that. Hopefully this does it justice.
Disclaimer: I do not own this interpretation of the myths and am making no profit from this.

Feedback, as always, is welcomed.

Whoo to the hoo? Got a border bingo in before the cut off. I also got more than a single fic qualifying as an "extra" due to the length. You can check out all the rules and scoring and such, as well as everyone else's bingos over at [community profile] hc_bingo/[livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo.

Below is an index of the stories as well as a copy of the original card. I'd just like to state for the record that coding this all was an adventure. For realz.

Fandoms: Avengers, Highlander, Merlin
Prompts: comfort food/item, forced to rely on enemy/rival, hunger/starvation, loss of job/income, imprisonment, whipping/flogging, interrogation, cursed, panic attacks, plane crash, extortion, mutation, hallucinations, phobias, surgery, body guards

Fills below the cut )

If anyone is interested in the card itself, here it is below the cut.

Title: A Ha'Penny Will Do
Genre: Gen, Team, Fluff
Rating: PG
Length: ~4,500 words
Warnings: Mild language
Synopsis: Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat, pleased to put a penny in the old man's hat. If you haven't got a penny, a ha'penny will do. If you haven't got a ha'penny, well then god bless you! Or, you know, Merry Winter, Avengers style.
Author's Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] azuremonkey for [livejournal.com profile] avengers_xchng. I kinda ran with the fluffy holiday theme, with a bit of a mission and a tiny bit of background of a certain pairing, if you squint. I hope you like the attempt?
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters and am making no profit from this.

Also available at AO3.
