Day 9 of [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon.

It doesn't matter which universe you find yourself in or where in the timeline you fall, Olivia Dunham will still kick ass. You look at the premise for Fringe and realize that she has all the potential to be the most Maryest of Sues, and yet she manages not only to avoid that, but fight back against it and be all the more awesome for it.

This is a tribute to her, at least to a couple versions of her.

Random the 1st:
I kind of want to write an Alphas fic but have seen a grand total of 1 in the entire fandom to date, so am not quite sure.

Random the 2nd:
Fringe! New episode last night! Still no other fics posted for the challenge, which is a bit odd.

Random the 3rd:
Working on fic, I swear!

Random the 4th:
Um, didn't LJ with all its massive down time this year promise extensions? I still have the emails. Yet I just got a new email that says my paid time is about to expire. WTF?

Random the 5th:
Still have not wandered down for breakfast yet, which my bloodsugar is shaking a finger at me for. Hot chocolate and English muffins with pomegranate-cherry spread seems like the plan for the day.

My [livejournal.com profile] fringeminibang draft is done! As of like ten minutes ago! And mailed off already because tonight is the deadline! And it's at about 17K! And there are possibly plot holes to still fix! And I really have to find a better name than "the other Olivia" to separate them!

Considering all the crap that went on in the past month alone with surviving layoffs, dislocating my shoulder (again), working out the house thing, and going to CONvergence, this totally counts as an accomplishment and I am treating myself to a large glass of chocolate milk. So there. *nods*

Just as soon as I can get this kitty off of me.

Having the worst time concentrating on my Fringe Mini-Bang fic. Want to go play with a couple of Merlin fics instead (one is nice and angsty, and the other is angst with a side of wtf).

Managed to get to 7,500 words tonight though. Goal is minimum 10,000 by the end of the month so I need another 2,500 minimum and, well, a complete plot. I... kind of have a plot? It's also kind of rushed but, then again, so is Walter's mind, so there's that.

Hrm... Can I at least play with editing a fic as a break? :/

I got new glasses! And am so far halfway through the work day without needing to reach for the Excedrin! I do believe there may be a correlation between these two points. Also cool? Not seeing blurry halos around objects when I take my glasses off. That’s just neat.

I am also finally making progress on my [livejournal.com profile] fringeminibang fic! Roughly 1,200 words worth, so that totally counts. I had been shooting plotlines over to poor patient [livejournal.com profile] threnodyjones up to this point, but not actually getting anything beyond that accomplished until now.

Oh, and I have some progress on the [livejournal.com profile] gwaine_quest fic as well! Need to add a scene between two scenes I have so far, and then continue on from there, but don’t feel comfortable writing that one out on lunch at work due to some NSFW bits because, really, nothing throws off your writing more than someone stopping by to ask you a question (ignoring the “Lunch” sign) and then going, “OMG! What are those two guys doing?!?” Also, because I would probably be tempted to reply something like, “Just wait, a third one joins in,” which would probably get me in even more trouble.

For now though, it’s time to finish up lunch, wrap up a paragraph, go to a meeting, finish my last few accounts, go volunteer, and then (finally) go home.

Ah, Fringe, must you screw with every potential plot for my Mini Bang story?

So glad I decided to wait until certain things were ironed out before fully detailing the plot.

So we have been watching Fringe on Sundays more than the new Friday night lineup due to scheduling with the kidlings. Watched the latest episode last night and am now at what I guess you call a quandary.

I signed up for the Fringe Mini Bang (like a Big Bang, only a bit smaller) with a plot idea in mind. The show has now gone that route itself, but with a tiny twist I actually was not sure was going to happen or not.

ExpandCut for Spoilers )

The fic minimum is only 10K words. I have several months. Do I wait to see how it plays out in canon and adjust my original idea, tweaking it a bit and taking notes as the episodes air, or do I do a straight up AU from [X] episode instead?

I’m honestly not sure. Maybe I should just concentrate on the [community profile] camelot_fleet Finish-a-thon things for now? It would also give time for more canon to work with if necessary.

Erg, decisions, decisions, decisions...

So I just signed up for [livejournal.com profile] fringeminibang, with the goal of writing a 10K story in a fandom I barely dabble in with a canon I'm afraid of messing with. Yeah, oops?

This is on top of the Finish-a-thon that is starting up over at [community profile] camelot_fleet as well. Oh, and two new projects that were just handed to me at work in addition to my usual workload. This may take a lot of chocolate.

On the up side, the deadlines don't really overlap too much, so there's that?

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] fringeminibang is still looking for artists, if anyone wants to toss their hat into the ring! Everything for hand drawn to manips to icons are accepted, if anyone is interested.

Cannot decide if I want to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] fringeminibang or not. On the one hand, it's only 10K words and I'd have months to do it in. On the other, I write so little for the fandom and have so many other projects and WIPs I need to finish first.

Have to make up my mind soon. As very soon. As in a matter of days.

There's also the pesky thing about a plot if I did do it. I have one possible thought, but don't know if it'd work or not. Also don't know if it'd get Jossed by the time the challenge actually rolls around.

Thoughts?

FRINGE!

Awesome, love the guest star (see what I'm doing here, being all spoiler-free?), and, once again, they are either foreshadowing or fucking with us - so, you know, the usual. *g*

Two favorite quotes that could honestly be from any episode (and have been said before and likely will again):

"What are you doing, Walter?" said in a singsong voice.

and

"Walter, are you high?"

Hee!

No real spoilers.

It was angsty and had an actual plot and obvious parallels to Olivia's story. Plus, you know, Broyles being snarky and that is always a good thing. *g*

Just had to again say how much I like the writing on this show - the characters' personalities are so quirky, but so consistently quirky that it makes the whole thing work. Astrid is so awesome with Walter, who is awesome with Peter and Olivia in his own ways. Broyles knows them all well enough to not necessarily not be surprised by what they come up with, but to just kind of roll with it when it happens. And Olivia... Anna Torv is just quite awesome playing all the little nuances wrapped around her.

Also, someone needs to make Broyles' quote about emergencies into an icon. Just saying.

Loving Fringe this season - cool characterizations and intricate storylines and everything you could love about it. The actors look like they are having fun with it as well, which is always a good sign.

Bones? Not so much. It's like everyone forgot how to act over the hiatus, but that's okay because the scripts aren't really that complex anyway. Seriously, wincing watching it with the kids. Maybe it's just my huge embarrassment squick, but 'tis painful.

Need to find Olivia pics from this season and make another icon - have an idea but have to, you know, actually do it. :)

PS - I know I am behind in commenting - I hope to catch up either tomorrow or this weekend. Sorry!

So, that would be my attempt at coherency after both the episode and far too many people talking at once. :) Thoughts?
